Players don't make an account. You type a name and you're in. We don't track you, we don't run analytics, and we never sell your data.

This website

settleitgame.com sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising tags. Typing a game code here just sends you to the game in the app. We don't store the code.

Two other companies see your visit, the way they would for any website:

Playing a game

To play you give us one thing: the name you type. We store that name, your crew's name and your crew's results from the night, so the game works and your crew's record is there the next time you play. Crews' wins are public on the leaderboards, under the crew's name.

The app also saves a few small things on your own phone so it remembers you: the game you're in, your crew and your screen setting. They stay on the device. They aren't cookies and we don't use them to follow you anywhere.

A free account, if you want one

You never need an account to play. If you make one, it's an email address and a password, and it keeps only what you put in it: your favourite teams and the Settle It bars you follow, crews you chose to save so there's no key to type next time, a name and logo for games you run at home, and your results from games you play signed in, so your record follows you. Your watch list (your teams' games this week, and the bars running them) is worked out from those each time you open it; we don't store it. "Add to calendar" hands a game to your phone's own calendar, and we keep nothing from that.

Playing signed in puts your name and wins on the public leaderboards. The Boards switch in Your Settle It takes you off them; your results stay on your account for you.

The email address is used for signing in and for a password reset, and for nothing else. No newsletters, no marketing, and we never sell or share it. You can delete the account yourself from inside it (Your Settle It, then Delete my account), and everything it keeps goes with it; saved crews stay in the game's record under their key with nobody's name on them.

Finding a bar

To show Settle It bars and offers near you, the app uses the rough area your connection comes from, such as a city. Every website can see this; we use it for that one list and don't store it. If you tap to use your exact spot, your phone asks your permission first, and the exact spot is used for that one list and then dropped. It isn't stored or sent anywhere else.

Bars and venues

A bar is the same kind of account with a bar on it. The password is stored only in a protected, scrambled form by our sign-in provider, so we can't read it. We also store the bar's name, any image it uploads, its specials, and the games it sets up.

A bar that lists itself on Find a Settle It bar gives us its public address and a pin on the map, which anyone can see. A bar shows on Find a Settle It bar once its owner verifies it: tapping Verify at the bar asks the phone for its location once, to check it's within 500 ft of the pin, and we keep only the date it was verified, not where the phone was. A bar can switch the listing off. When staff mark a prize handed over, we keep the time against that win. If a bar redeems a Settle It code, we keep a record of the code, when it was used, and which bar it's for.

Settle It's own team signs in to the Portal with the same kind of account. We store which parts of the Portal each person can use, and the email address an invitation was sent to.

If you ask us something

"Get a code" and "Ask us" in the app keep what you type: your name, the email or phone you leave, the bar and town, and your note, so a person can answer. It's used for that answer and nothing else.

Adverts

Some games show adverts. They're chosen by Settle It or by the bar, and the ones in a free game can depend on the rough area the game is in. They aren't targeted at you and they don't track you.

To tell advertisers how an advert did, we count how many times it was shown and tapped, as totals for each day and rough area. No person, phone or exact location is part of those counts.

What we don't collect

Where it's kept

Game data is stored with Supabase, our database provider. The app is served by Netlify and this website by IONOS. Some of these services may process data in the United States. Each one handles the data only to run Settle It for us.

Deleting your data

An account deletes itself from inside the app or the Portal (Your Settle It, then Delete my account). An account with a bar deletes the bar first (My bar, then Delete this bar), or asks us to move the bar to someone else's account. For anything else, email privacy (at) settleitgame (dot) com and tell us your name and crew, or your account email. We'll delete what we hold. You can also ask for a copy of it or a correction. To clear what's saved on your phone, delete the app or clear the site's data in your browser.

Children

Settle It is made for a general audience, and venues can run games on a family setting. We never ask for more than a name, and a first name is plenty. If you think a child has given us an email, write to us and we'll delete it.

Changes

If what we collect changes, this page changes first, and the date at the top changes with it.
